R-1 LAUNCH A SUCCESS!

Today, R-1 lifted from it's launchpad at KSC and ascended into the sky. Onlookers were in awe as the rocket made it's way up into the atmosphere and headed eastwards out over the ocean. This marked day-one of the Kerbal Space Program.

R-1's RT-10 booster ignited flawlessly and burned for 30 seconds before running out of fuel. This sent the vehicle to a peak altitude of 29km above sea-level and reached a staggering speed of over 800m/s before falling back to Kerbin. There was a roaring cheer as R-1 impacted the ocean three minutes and forty-six seconds after launch.

Gene Kerman was not available for interview after stating that there was much data to go through, but he was ecstatic with the results. Apparently we shouldn't expect R-2 to be much different to it's successful predecessor due to the development of the launch process being the next focus.

Jebediah Kerman stated: 'It looked too easy. It wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped. But there are plenty of rockets to launch yet. Hopefully the next one will be a lot bigger.'
